Friends & Acquaintances

As a believer it is very crucial to
know the difference between a “Friend” and an “Acquaintance.” If you confuse
the two you are setting yourself up for a heartbreaking experience. No one
wants that.
Friend - Someone You
Bonded With. You share Trust, Respect, Values & Morals. You have something
in Common.
Acquaintance -
Someone You Know Because Of Circumstance, Work Together, Classmate, Someone from
Church.
The warning I am giving you is if you
treat an acquaintance as a trusted friend and share private information with
them, and then you find out they told others of you, now you feel betrayed and
hurt.
Please understand I
am not telling you to be mean to people.
As Christians we are
to love everyone and treat everyone with respect.
But you don’t have to
share your intimate details to just anybody.
Proverbs
12:26 The righteous should choose his friends
carefully,
for the way of the wicked leads them
astray.
The bible
has some great insight in this area of life. As a Pastor I have seen people
leave their church because of somebody's influence. I am not saying it is wrong
to leave a church, as long as you do it biblically. Do not be a follower of
men, especially someone who is not right with God.
The truth is you have hundreds of
acquaintances in your lifetime.
But only
a handful of true friends. Choose wisely.
