The Scoffer

The great Apostle Peter gave the church
a very strong warning.
2 Peter
3:3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the
last days, walking according to their own lusts,
What is a
Scoffer? Do I want to be one?
No Way. Let’s look at the
definition of scoffer.
SCOFFER -
Scorn, Scorner, Scornful, Interpreter. To Make Mouths At. To Mock, Mocker,
Slander.
These are
some pretty strong definitions. This is not a safe or happy person.
The
Apostle Peter was warning the church that this type of person would be active
in the last days. Man, oh man was he right.
A scoffer is someone who intentionally
twists what the preacher says. The danger involved with the scoffer is they
could potentially undermine someone’s faith and affect their walk with God.
With social media and the internet, they can reach a lot of people with their
slander.
You do not have to agree with every
preacher or their sermon, but you do not have the right to attack and
destroy a preacher. The bible has a serious warning for the scoffer:
Proverbs
19:29 Judgments are prepared to scoffers,
And
beating for the backs of fools.
That is pretty serious warning right
there. Judgments are prepared for the scoffer. Maybe the scoffer is so full of
himself that he does not believe there are consequences for his actions. Make
the choice today - I will not be a scoffer or befriend a scoffer.
